Immortality presents us with a cache of footage, taken during the filming of the only three movies ever made by model-turned-actress Marissa Marcel, none of which was ever released. Finding out why would be an intriguing mystery in itself, but there are bigger questions to be answered – the yawning gap between 1970’s Minsky and 1999’s Two Of Everything being one, Marcel’s subsequent disappearance the other. But having suggested a few potential narrative threads to follow, Sam Barlow – and an expansive cast and crew of collaborators – sends us spiralling down a vertiginous rabbit hole, one where the truth seems ever more elusive the deeper you go.
