TESS NEWALL’S 18TH-CENTURY AUSTRIAN ARMOIRE

“This beautiful armoire was given to me by my husband, Alfred, soon after we were married. Thefriends. We live in a 16th-century house at the foot of the South Downs with our three children. The animals running along the bottom of the armoire – over bridges and down hills – remind the children of the animals that live on the hills and fields around us. The bottom of the cupboard, which is vast, is also their favourite hiding place when we are playing hide and seek!
