Too many Williams spoil the tree

I’ve been at this family history business for a long time now, and I think my main lines are largely as complete as they ever will be. I’ve been lucky on the paternal line, getting with certainty back to the birth of an eight times great-grandfather in 1633, so although I’m always tinkering around in nearby villages, even finding the odd promising line of enquiry, further provable links seem unlikely.
