• Kenya Airways begins operations with a pair of leased Boeing 707–320s; it also inherits two Douglas DC-9-32s and Fokker F27-200s from East African Airways, the company from which KQ evolved.
1978
• KQ forms Flamingo Airlines, a spin-off charter operation, which leased aircraft from its parent.
1985
• Two Airbus A310-300s join KQ’s fleet. These were its first wide-body (twin-aisle)
