RAF Delbert, Nova Scotia

John D. Reid’s piece in FT July 2022 on RAF training in Canada [as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan] prompted me do some research about my father’s time in Canada while serving in the RAF. Perhaps some of you readers can help with finding a few names.

During 1941/42 my late father LAC Ivor Swidenbank RAF was stationed at RAF Delbert, Canada and would spend leave time with fellow airmen at the home of the New Glasgow family of Bruce and Alene Cox.

I have an album that Alene sent to my father after the war, and it contains documents and photographs about his time in Canada.

The album also has details of his fellow airmen who also enjoyed the Cox’s hospitality.
