1994 XJ40 4.0 Sovereign

IN MY last instalment for Our Jaguars [June 2022, p86] I introduced my recently purchased S-TYPE 3.0 manual, which I had stumbled upon by accident when I was looking for a car for a friend. And a fabulous thing it is, too.

But I’d argue it’s not as fabulous as my other find. Indeed, it turns out that finding a cheap runaboutsee here – a 1994 XJ6 4.0 Sovereign, which had just been returned to the road after a 13-year lay-up. I slept on it and realised I was still thinking about it in the morning, so I made some tentative enquiries, not least because the car was in Norwich and so would I be for a work assignment a couple of days later.
