PORTRAIT OF AN ANTIQUE

“I've been collecting’ antique ceramics for a few years now. Being a ceramicist. these pieces inspire my own Romantic Vasenot too pretty. I particularly love the contrast of the intricate and precise transfer drawing’ encased in a hand-painted oval on the front, with the freehand resist painting's decorating’ the body and surrounding’ the transfer under the pink lustre. This decoration makes the piece not too fussy and gives evidence of a hand still being’ in the process of the application techniques. I display them on my mantelpiece, or all together on the shelving’ in my living’ room. I think they look great en masse, and, for me, those antique lustre shades really ground the room. ”
