Feathers make a great subject to paint, as there are so many different types to choose and you can always find one to suit your ability and mood. If you like order and precision, for instance, you might prefer to work with tail or flight feathers, which have rigid and powerful shapes, unlike traditional down feathers, which are fluffier and more unpredictable in nature.
