CAN ETHANOL BE AVOIDED?

Whilst commonly introduced across the USA and certain European counties over ten years ago, the British Standards Institute approval originally mandated E10 implementation across Great Britainnow referred to as ‘Protection Grade’ is the avoidance tactic to employ, sadly not wholly true. Interestingly, E5 fuel can legally contain between 0 and 5% of ethanol, E10 between 5.5 and 10%. Most ‘big name’ suppliers including the major supermarkets claim to include some percentage of ethanol in their ‘protection’ products. Esso stands alone in stating that its new ‘Synergy Supreme 99’ fuel is ethanol free, BUT some areas of the UK (notably Scotland, Tyneside and the Southwest), due to transport logistics, DO contain the additive. Consult to ascertain the situation in your area. Rest assured that this ongoing issue will be monitored by and as information on developments and facts become available, we will keep you informed.
