For years I have been trying to step closer to capturing the essence of my subjects and found that I've been gradually moving closer to abstraction, one step at the time. This quest somehow resonates with the minimalist ideology: less is more. To achieve more impact, power, beauty and meaning, you might want to show, use or have less. It is arguably a question of taste, and not everybody will agree with me on this, but I find using one simple and well-placed brushstroke so much more powerful than placing a dozen little ones to say the same thing.
