A new TWIST on PUMPKINS

Time for Fun

A faux pumpkin will make a lasting impression when turned into a whimsical timepiece, complete with a battery-operated clock and hands that can count down the hours to Halloween. A watch face with large hands replaces the nose, and gears, bobbins, upholstery tacks and corrugated metal become the eyes and mouth.

Instructions

1. Select your clock pieces and then cut openings in the pumpkin that will accommodate them. Also cut open the pumpkin’s bottom to access the inside. (Try to make a tidy cut, as you will save the piece to tape back in place when you’re finished.)

2. Choose a clock mechanism with a stem that is long enough to pass through the pumpkin with a bit extra so the hands can spin freely over the other embellishments. Drill
