Gary Brooker

THE WORLD OF rock music has paid tribute to Procol Harum singer and pianist player Gary Brooker, who has died of cancer. Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice was among those to pay tribute the 76-year-old, describing him as “one of the giants of English music.” Van der Graaf Generator frontman Peter Hammill described Brooker “an inspirational figure”.

London-born Brookerwith Brooker’s mournful vocals and haunting electric piano work very much to the fore.
