In 1962, guitarist/singer Fancis Rossi and bassist Alan Lancaster co-founded The Scorpions, who with the addition of drummer John Coghlan and guitarist Rick Parfitt evolved into Status Quo. In Classic Rock’s first interview with Quo, in issue number two, Rossi assessed the band’s early catalogue as “a few moments of brilliance and sixtyto-seventy per cent shit”.
