MYSTIC FESTIVAL 2022

WEDNESDAY

You couldn’t find a better backdrop for a metal blowout. Back after three years, Mystic Festival welcomes 12,000 fans to a disused communistera shipyard in the heart of Gdańsk. Its stages are separated by abandoned warehouses, their windows shattered and fixtures rusted. It’s a scene that evokes heavy music’s birthplace of the industrial Midlands, and over the next four days it’ll host every subgenre and emotional tone this scene can muster.

With the Main Stage not opening until tomorrow, fire up the subsidiary Park Stage. Riffs, riffs and more riffs torrent, asfollowing the dismissal of rape charges, they receive a heroes’ welcome here. Guitarist Vogg sounds like he should be two people and their machine-like precision enthrals.
