Yes, I know this 1984 Suzuki RG250 Mk.2 (or WE – which is the correct model designation) predates Back to the Future by a year, but Marty McFly would do well to head back 12 months and swop his DeLorean for this beauty.
The bike is a lovely original example of the second generation of the RG250; the Mk.2 differs slightly from the earlier Mk.1 and looks slightly sharper and more aggressive with its updated front fairing. The RG was the first mass-produced bike to feature an alloy frame so it’s definitely deserving of the title of ‘racer for the road’! At the point the Mk.1 came out interest in 250s had waned in the UK due to the change in learner laws. However, in other countries the 250 market was still hot news, especially in Japan where the RG would be competing for sales with the Kawasaki KR250A and Honda NS250R.
