Earl Hooker may not be a name that immediately rolls off the tongue when considering classic Chicago bluesmen. His music is all too often overlooked, shadowed by giants such as BB King, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, and others, but his contribution to the genre and to the guitar’s role in popular music is easily equal to his more commercially successful peers and should not be dismissed in a hurry.
