There are certain things that will always be inextricably intertwined with our memories of the beach. Stripy deckchairs. Parasols. 99 Flakes. Sand in the sun cream. Sand in the sandwiches. Sand in your socks. Sand bloody everywhere, reappearing from every nook and cranny for weeks. And in the early 1960s, you could add the off beat genre of the ‘jolly’ car to that list.
