Porcelain VS. ceramic tiles

Deciding whether to choose porcelain or ceramic can be a dilemma when choosing tiles for a project, whether it’s for a kitchen or bathroom design, or even an outdoor space. The main difference, of course, comes down to what these tiles are made from and how they’re made.

Ceramic tiles are made at lower temperatures from softer clay, thereby creating a less dense and more porous tile. Porcelain tiles use white clay, strengthened with other additives and they are fired at a high temperature to make a harder, denser tile. This difference affects not only the appearance of the tiles, but can determine where they can be used in the home, the way they’re cut
