ig challenges can feel impossible at first. When I saw Bradley Wiggins set his UCI world hour record in London in 2015, I did the maths and he was doing 16.5-second laps of the velodrome. Two weeks later, I raced at the British Universities Track Cycling Championships and I couldn’t even ride that speed for 4km. But he kept it up for 54.526km. I thought: how is that possible? But fast-forward seven years and I broke the hour record with a distance of 55.548km
