MATERIALS

• Berroco Ultra Alpaca medium (worsted) weight alpaca/ Peruvian wool yarn (3½ oz/ 215 yds/100g per hank):

5 [6, 7, 8, 9, 10] hanks #6259 beet root

• Sizes H/8/5mm and I/9/5.5mm crochet hooks or size needed to obtain gauge

• Tapestry needle

• Wooden beads: 18

• Stitch markers

GAUGE

Size I hook: Shell = 1¼ inches; 24 pattern rows = 13 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Use size I hook throughout unless otherwise stated.

Row 2: Ch 4 (see Pattern Notes), tr in each of next 2 dc, [dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 3, tr in each of next 4 dc, ch 3] 4 [6, 8] times, dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 3, tr in each of last 3 sts, turn.

Row 3: Ch 2 (see Pattern Notes), sc in each of next 2 tr, ch 3, [dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 3, sc in each of next 4 tr, ch 3] 4 [6, 8] times, dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 3, sc in each of last 3 sts, turn.

Rows 4 & 5: Rep row 3, working in sc instead of tr.
