Sailing America’s Great Loop

EVERYONE STARTS SOMEWHERE. Sometimes there’s detailed planning, and sometimes you just jump right into the deep end. Our journey into boating was the latter. We had already been living rootless out of two suitcases and traveling internationally before COVID, so our decision to “upsize” into a 34-foot trawler and live on the water started off a bit different than most.

Our original plan was to travel around the world for a year, as a sort of gap year. When the pandemic hit, we got locked down in India and had to completely reimagine what types of travel were possible and what “safe” traveling looked like. We decided to “pivot” into our greatest challenge
