A WOODLAND OF edible treats

visitor to the little town of Buckingham in North Buckinghamshire may well happen upon a hidden gem of edible horticulture, nestled in the Heartlands Park by the River Great Ouse. This small but beautiful oval of land, the Buckingham Edible Woodland, is home to around 78 different varieties of edible and useful trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants. This is an edible space that is open to all who wander into it, and visitors are welcome to the fruits, nuts, shoots and leaves that grow there. It is now a low-maintenance project designed using permaculture forest garden principles to sustain itself. This is all due to the hard work of Transition Buckingham members and locals that pitched in to help from 2014 onwards.
