I have always had a fascination with strong and varying floor patterns in a garden – from richly-textured groundcovers, artistically placed rocks, fabulously integrated paving and pathways leading one along a route rather than directly to a point of interest or repose.
Although it is fairly easy to add order to the garden floor with a simple grid system dividing it into areas for planting, for lawn, for pathways and for paved areas in shapes like squares, circles and triangles, there are other ways to add interest or to challenge one a bit more – one of them is called a labyrinth.
