Tulips are the most wonderful sight to behold in spring – whether planted en masse for a dazzling display, mingling with other bulb varieties in beds and containers, or as a bunch of cut flowers to adorn the vase.
With over 8,000 varieties, in 15 different groups, tulips come in almost every colour of the rainbow; only blue and true black are missing. Groupings are based on flowering time – from March to May – early or late, and the shape of the flower: single, double, fringed, lily-flowered and parrot.
