Designs Approved and Rejected by CCAC

The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) met Sept. 27 at the U.S. Mint in Washington, D.C., to consider candidate designs for the Congressional Gold Medal of Greg LeMond, the 2024 American Innovation dollars honoring the states of Maine and Missouri, and the Congressional Gold Medal for the women known as “Rosie, the Riveter.”

James LeMond began cycling at the age of 14. He took home a full suite of medals at the 1979 Junior World Championships and at age 18 became the youngest cyclist in the history of the sport to be selected for the U.S Olympic team. LeMond first competed in the Tour de France in 1984, finishing third, and finishing second the following year.
