Denver deliberations
This week’s deal comes from the US Nationals in Denver, Colorado, a few years back, a delightful place that allowed your columnist to ride his bike all morning, emerging fresh-faced (and Denver certainly was fresh in late November) to play bridge at one o’clock.
* Very bold, rash even, but perhaps with US international Larry Cohen’s words ringing in his ear: “If in doubt, bid Four Spades over Four** Marginal. Five Hearts may or may not make, but surely Four Spades is failing (it is – by three tricks).*** Knowing his partner’s ultra-aggressive style.
