Rotary REUnion was founded by Rene Richmond, a Taupō resident with solid ties to the racetrack, and Guy Maxwell, alias Madmax Photography, who is wellknown for his days shooting from the back of a ute while strapped into a race seat. One of the largest rotary-only events in the world, REunion is renowned for hosting a variety of motorsport events, such as burnouts, track cruising, drag racing, drifting, and grip sessions. It has come a long way from its modest beginnings in 2015, when only 105 rotaries attended.
The number of rotary-powered cars increased to 187 in the event’s second year, as the rotary car culture grew and word spread about a hot new rotary-only event. However, as the event’s popularity increased and more people entered the gates, more staff and resources were needed.
Choice Events and Promotions was established in 2017 and took over Rotary
