Perhaps I’m dating myself here, but ’90s kids’ media loved nothing more than diving into tiny hidden worlds. From A Bug’s Life to The Borrowers, plenty of stories played on the appeal of the pint-sized fantastic squirrelled away in the mundane. It was only a matter of time before games jumped into this niche, and many of us still fondly remember Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear To The Rescue for how it reimagines Andy’s home as a funhouse-mirror obstacle course. It’s not hard to trace a line from there, through PlayStation classics like Katamari Damacy, to Tinykin.
