Smiley Peppermint packs a punch

WHILE she might have been making her Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) working hunter pony debut, 10-year-old Elsie Lynch didn't let that stop her from jumping clear, winning her class, standing section champion and ultimately going through the card to lift the 2022 Supreme Products pony of the year title.

Her partner was the Ward family's exceptional 133cm mare Noble Peppermint (Pepper) who never missed a beat, retaining a typically jolly disposition throughout every performance.

The 12-strong supreme was judged by Marcus Capel and Val Turner.

“This pony was of such good type, and she was suitable for a child in every way,” said Marcus. “She had gorgeous charisma; she just had something about her.”

Val agreed: “She smiled throughout the judging process.”
