Q Are there any downsides to shooting faster than you technically need when it comes to action photography?

A The shutter speed you need for action is totally linked to the look you want from your subject. If your aim is to get a frame of your subject moving at high speed, but totally ‘frozen’ and sharp, then the only downside to a high shutter speed is the ISO needed to achieve it. The higher the ISO, the more potential noise in your image.
Some image noise can be processed out, but for better image quality it’s still best to avoid it. If you have lots of light, can shoot at a lower ISO and still achieve a shutter speed of 1/2000 sec or higher, then there are no repercussions. In fact, if you’re shooting with a telephoto lens, the higher shutter speed will be helpful because with a
