It’s one of the hottest days of the year as I stride over the old cobbles and new pavements of Leith’s famed Shore. Despite my rush, it’s hard not to stop and take in the view. Looking at the glowing beams of sun as they shatter on the final stretch of the Water of Leith, it’s easy to let your mind slip back in time and imagine the scene just as it was when King George IV drifted into the small port, white sails billowing, all the way back in 1822.
