Don’t overpay for broadband

Recent research suggests that the average internet speed in the UK is now 72Mbps – up from 51Mbps last year – which places us as the 35th fastest country in the world (www.snipca.com/43467). But that figure is skewed by including data for businesses and heavy internet users who have ‘ultra-fast’ connections, such as online gamers. Although 66 per cent of the UK now has access to 1Gbps broadband, most of us don’t require anywhere near that speed, and in the current economic climate it can be needlessly expensive.

Here we suggest the five questions you should ask yourself to ensure you’re not overpaying for broadband and don’t get ripped off when you switch provider.
