Wolhuter was the first ranger appointed by the Kruger National Park’s first warden, Col James Stevenson-Hamilton. Three times in his life this tough-as-biltong ranger was declared dead (twice during the Anglo-Boer War and once after his fateful and legendary lion attack). His son became a Kruger ranger, as did his: maverick wildlife filmmaker Kim Wolhuter.
