that's life!

Welcome

et owners can be a funny old breed. But in The Buzz this week (Page 13) we report on a survey about dog owners that surprised even me. Of the 12,700 people surveyed, apparently one child! I suspect some of those may have been in the first flush of puppy love and will change their minds. Because as amazing as dogs are, I think most parents will agree that two-legged kids are pretty amazing too! I was less surprised by the statistic that 73 per cent of owners let their dogs sleep on their bed. When our Dizzy was a pup, my husband Simon and I were determined that he would never sleep on our bed. we thought. Of course, that lasted about a week. Now that he’s 13, we have to lift Dizzy onto the bed and then off again when he’s ready to get up, which is usually about an hour after us because he likes to sleep in! Our senior copy editor Jude is just as crazy about her gorgeous cat, Juno, who usually sleeps curled up behind her knees. ‘Sometimes my legs go to sleep because I can’t bear to move her,’ said Jude. And just as Simon and I do with Dizz, Jude talks with Juno as if she were human.
