IF YOU HAVE been following the progress of Jenny Folman and the lovely Gazdag over the last few issues you will know how hard they have worked to get to the dizzy heights of grand prix — and you have probably felt heartened to discover that even at this level the ‘simple stuff’ (in Gazdag's case, changes) can still pose a problem.

It is all too easy to imagine that schooling when you are a highly accomplished dressage partnership consists of multiple flying changes and effortless piaffes, when, in fact, the basics need to be at the core of every training session — something top trainer Vikki Hayton is keen to stress whenever she's teaching.

So it is onwards and ever upwards for Jenny and her talented horse in the final part of our series as they learn to ‘embrace the pace’, stay balanced through every transition and hone their one-time changes.
