MEET THE EXPERT
After overcoming her own riding confidence issues using NLP, Tracey Cole started a mindset and mental performance business in 2013. She is a trainer and master coach of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and hypnotherapy, specialising in equestrianism. She runs training and coaching sessions via Zoom from her home in the Staffordshire Moorlands. An avid horse lover, she owns two mares.

WHAT IS NLP?
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a means of understanding how our subconscious mind works. That is where our emotions, habits and memories are stored, so by working on this deeper mind we can make our mind work for us. NLP gives people concepts and techniques to rewire their thinking, rather like an instruction manual for the mind!
A definition of confidence is to feel sure of yourself and your abilities. As every horse rider knows, confidence may be an intangible concept, but every element that involves horses, from leading them to hacking out, requires various levels of confidence or you won't even make it to the start line.
