DOCTOR WHO AM I TBC

OUT NOW CINEMAS 7 NOVEMBER DVD, DIGITAL

The daunting arena of fandom is explored in Vanessa Yuille’s portrait of Matthew Jacobs, the screenwriter of 1996’s divisive TV movie. Oft-derided for alleged continuity crimes, Jacobs has - understandably - avoided US con culture. But he finds a lively welcome among folks who knit Tom Baker scarves for fun, touchingly revealing how the show helped him during his troubled upbringing. With Paul McGann reiterating his own standing as the great (semi-)lost Doctor, the result is a clear-eyed, warm-hearted tribute to community, where fandom assumes a fun, friendly face.
