A manda Spratt was first introduced to life on two wheels when she took to BMX riding as a youngster in the World Heritage Listed Blue Mountains. Cycling had been in the family for generations; Amanda’s father and grandfather were both competitive riders themselves.

A humble and supportive upbringing in Springwood – 90km due west of Sydney – provided the ideal setting for Spratt, who immersed herself into the great outdoors, exploring the vast expanse of the Blue Mountains with her siblings.

When asked what drew her into cycling, Spratt acknowledges the freedom that being on a bike provided at an early age and the sense of adventure it stimulated for her.
