BATTALIONS OF THE RAJ

47TH SIKHS (IN 1922 BECAME THE 5TH BATTALION 11TH SIKH REGIMENT)

The 47th Sikhs were mobilised at Jullundur in the Punjab on 17 August 1914, with 84 reservists joining the regiment. The regiment, originally raised at Sialkot in 1901, comprised eight companies of Jat Sikhs.

Part of the 8th Jullundur Infantry Brigade of the 3rd Lahore Division, the regiment travelled by train via Hyderabad to Karachi,
