We’re Sweet on Honey Mustard
You can make honey mustard by stirring together your favorite honey and mustard, and it will be delicious. But you may want to buy it instead. Most store-bought versions contain additional sweeteners that give them a unique piquancy and complexity that’s hard to replicate at home with just two ingredients.
We compared five honey mustards plain and with chicken nuggets, and we were surprised by how much they differed. Two are made with whole mustard seeds that the manufacturers grind to their desired consistency. One was as smooth as a typical yellow mustard, while the other was fairly coarse.
The other mustards start with finely ground mustard flour, which produces an ultrasmooth consistency. They were thick, satiny, and delightfully sticky.
