Evenepoel should avoid the Tour – for now

Remco Evenepoel is a Grand Tour winner. Now that’s something I didn’t expect to be saying so soon – certainly not on the evidence of his lacklustre Giro d’Italia debut last year. And who’d have thought QuickStep Alpha Vinyl would emerge from the 2022 season with more Grand Tour wins but fewer Classics triumphs than Ineos Grenadiers? It’s a funny old world.
