The past two years have been a roller-coaster for Aaron Tanti. The Gold Coast-based rider broke his wrist and missed the opening round of the new-look, much-shortened ProMX championship last year, before getting the call-up to join Craig Dack’s CDR Yamaha Monster Energy Team for 2022.
When the team’s #1 rider and defending champion Luke Clout crashed out after two rounds, the responsibilities of carrying the team to glory fell on Tanti’s shoulders.
Some would’ve crumbled under the weight, but Tanti stayed committed to his goals, kept his eye on the prize and remained composed under the constant pressure from some of Australia’s most decorated racers.
The ultimate result was a first-ever national championship for Tanti, another red plate for Dacka’s workshop, and a fascinating championship that saw five different racers take round wins over the series’ eight stops.
ADB’s Simon Makker caught up with Australia’s newest MX1 champion to find out more about his breakout ProMX season.
