Coping with SUNBURN AND HEATSTROKE

Sunshine is good for vitamin D production, but it is easy to underestimate your time in the sun, not realising you’re burning.
Sunburn can be very painful, increases the risk of later skin cancer and accelerates skin wrinkling. Children and the elderly are more prone to burning and heatstroke.
Prevent both by limiting sun exposure time, even in the shade if it’s very hot. Frequent cool drinks keep you hydrated and cool you, but avoid caffeine and alcohol. Use high-SPF sun cream and wear light, loose, natural-fibre clothes, a hat and sunglasses. Cool your skin by sponging with tepid (not cold) water.
