Blight or blessing?

In the early morning hours of 9 February 2022, after some exceptionally hot days, a soft rain shower came down, followed by a veil of thick mist covering an extraordinary migration.

The folk of Vermont and Onrusrivier woke up as usual and walked out into their gardens to enjoy yet another day in paradise, secure in the knowledge that the local neighbourhood watch, the cameras and other wakeful guys had kept them safe from crime and bad stuff going bang in the night.

The sight that greeted them when they gazed onto their swimming pools, and the slimy carpet that they felt underfoot (in some extreme cases), left them gobsmacked. After all,
