Locals were recently left baffled when the sky over Mildura, Victoria, turned a mysterious pink. People for miles around were stunned on July 20 to see the eerie rose glow. Some wondered if it was evidence of an alien invasion, others. Resident Tammy Szumowski told the , ‘It was very bizarre. I was on the phone to my mum, and my dad was saying the world was ending.’ But the peculiar haze was actually down to a nearby medicinal cannabis factory. Pharmaceutical company Cann Group confirmed the lights had come from their new harvesting shed when the blackout blinds had been left open. Powerful pink LED lighting is often used to grow cannabis. So no UFO, just a much less scary, if not slightly more boring, explanation!
