I’ve known Nils Jorgensen and his work for over 20 years, and he has always been an enormous source of inspiration to me as a street photographer. Nils is one of those rare photographers who doesn’t have to try hard, he just has to be himself and the pictures come. Nils sees poetry and whimsy on every street corner because he is a quiet, sensitive man who ‘feels’ a photograph as much as he sees it. On the street, he is unassuming and invisible as he raises his camera to frame a simple moment of life. I have never seen Nils without a camera, not once, and I think that is one of the clues to his unique approach. For Nils, photography is like eating, drinking and breathing – it’s just a part of his life.
