FOM powers ahead

Savic Motorcycles will display their high-performance electric sports bike at the “Classics at Hart – 120 Years of Motorcycle Manufacture” exhibit at Harts Mill, Port Adelaide, on the 8th and 9th of October, the last two days of this year’s Festival of Motorcycling SA. The Savic C-Series bike is a Design Award winner and reputed to have potential to reach 100km/h in 3.5 seconds. Visitors will be welcome to interact with the bike, which is the first Australian-designed and manufactured production motorcycle since the nineteen fifties, when companies such as Tilbrook Motorcycles operated. Savic Motorcycles is also the first Australian company to design and manufacture an electric motorcycle.

The annual Heritage Transport Expo will run concurrently with the Harts Mill weekend, (8th and 9th of October). On both days, minibuses will provide free transport from Harts Mill to other museum locations in Port Adelaide including the Aviation, Maritime and Railway Museum. Also part of the weekend’s events at Port Adelaide, the Levis Motorcycle Club will hold a “Shine for Research” show-and-shine event on Sunday 9th. Entry price is $10 per vehicle. Motorcycles will be on display from 10:00am, with trophies presented at 2:00pm.

For motorcycles built from 1900 to 2022, the “Ride for Research” will leave from Harts Mill at 10:45 am Saturday 8th of October, for a cavalcade ride along the local coast. As with all FOMSA events, proceeds will go to the SA Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). Visitors gain entry to the Harts Mill motorcycle exhibit for a gold coin donation. On-site food stalls will be present and live music will add to the atmosphere. For more information or tickets go to fomsa.org
