Considered one of the 10 best Shots in Great Britain during the late Victorian period, Sir Frederick Acclom Milbank, Bt, the second son of a wealthy Yorkshire squire and a duke’s daughter, was born in London on 21 April 1820. Upon leaving Harrow School in 1837, he spent three years serving as a junior officer in the Cameron Highlanders, then retired from the Army to devote his life to sport and politics.
