Back in the day, it was quite normal to have a mooch about with dog and gun in the hope of bagging an unsuspecting rabbit flushed from the bottom of an old hedgerow, or a pigeon that bursts out the wrong side from its roost in an ancient oak tree. Nowadays, this kind of shooting is almost a forgotten art form.
