CHASING COOPERSTOWN COLLECTIBLES

The Spanish language filled the air in Cooperstown throughout the weekend of July 22-24. It was Induction Weekend at the Baseball Hall of Fame, a time to celebrate the arrival of the 2022 class of baseball greats.

Though there were seven new members, only three still living, the overwhelming majority of fans in attendance were there to see David Ortiz, aka Big Papi, as he took his place in the pantheon of baseball’s best.

The Dominican-born Ortiz inspires a legion of fans of Dominican origin and others from the Spanish-speaking world, and their voices mingled with those with Boston accents as Red Sox hats and jerseys filled the streets and shops of Cooperstown.
